While I think there is indeed more pain ahead (probably most especially for private equity, though that is another story), I also wanted this piece to emphasise that economic cycles are generally self-limiting unless there is some outside interference. From my standpoint, monetarily we may be near the bottom. Which means things will (probably in retrospect) begin to improve. But don't get your hope up too high.
