You are right it is long-winded - probably because it takes effort satisfactorily to convince myself. I am not sure you are right about the rich in China. Unlike in the West, the Chinese wealthy are tolerated only as long as they accept government tutelege - they'll accede to threats, such as becoming unwealthy, for fear of something worse.
